The financial arm of Debiopharm Group
Debiomanagement's main objectives are :
- the preservation of capital of Debiopharm Group, and
- the generation of regular financial incomes for Debiopharm Group's companies
Debiomanagement comprises a Financial Department, a Real Estate Department and a Private Equity Department.
The Financial Department activities comprise the management of cash, currencies, currency hedges and time deposits accounts. The financial team also deals with the companies' major financial risk exposures. Another key thrust of the department is to set up and manage a global balanced portfolio.
The Real Estate Department activities comprise the investments in residential or commercial real estates, property and facility management. The real estate team provides advice and expertise to Debiopharm S.A. and Debio R.P. in connection with the management of their offices and industrial real estates.
The Private Equity activity in the Group began indirectly through the purchase of shares in investment funds (or funds of funds).
Buoyed by the strong entrepreneurial spirit of the owners, the Private Equity activity is currently developed via direct equity funding in companies not related to the core business in order to enhance investment diversification.
When evaluating investment opportunities, firstly the team and its project are considered.
The investment philosophy entails:
- Minority participation (up to 25% of the capital)
- Long term investment, without horizon output preset but in respect of certain conditions (Strategy, Business Plan, Milestones)
- Active mode: through a presence in the Board of Directors and an involvement in the monitoring of the business
- Spirit of partnership focusing on exchange, dialogue and experience sharing
